Relocation Tips: Transferring Abroad
What are some quick tips for easing kids into life abroad?
It is hard enough for kids to move, let alone to a strange place where no one sounds the same and schoolmates have never heard of the Pokemon.
To help kids cope with a move remember to:
- Stick to routines.
When their whole world is upside down, it is comforting for kids to stick to normal meal and bedtime routines.
- Expect regression.
If your six-year old starts sucking a thumb again, keep your cool and remember regression is a natural response to stress and things will return to normal soon.
- Be a good listener.
Listen to your childrens fears and let them know it's okay to feel sad and that soon things will be okay.
- Be patient.
It will take time for little ones to feel at home and confident enough to make new friends and go out.
